Born in the year 1967, the Host Mr. Arun Kumar’s family migrated from Hampi in the 1530’s after the fall of the Vijayanagara Empire. Started with Agriculture and Sugar Plantations in the 1530’s, and Coffee Plantations in the early 1800’s. Arun Kumar’s family was one amongst the first to grow Coffee in the Malnad region, after the British.
Arun Kumar has pursued B.Sc Degree in the field of Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry. He was very much interested in Athletics winning many medals, and also a state-level Volleyball Player in 1981. Graduated in 1989, he started to work as a Construction Material Manager in Sigma Construction Company, Bengaluru. He began to look after the Coffee Plantations since 1992.
With an expertise in the field of Botany, Zoology, and Chemistry, Arun Kumar has a wide variety of interests ranging from Bird Watching, Gardening, Fishing, Poultry, Piggery, Rabbit rearing, Silk Worm rearing, Reading Books, and so on. He was also one of the Associates of ABC for more than 25 years, and knows Mr. V.G Siddhartha of Café Coffee Day personally. He also started a Coffee Powder manufacturing, packaging, and distributing brand – GoodMood Coffee. He later sold his business to one of his friends.
With the suggestion made by his wife to start a Homestay, Leisure Homestay was one of the first Homestay to begin in the surrounding region in the year 2016. Arun Kumar’s dream was to give the Guests an authentic Malnad Experience in terms of Nature, Food, making them to have wonderful memories with their Family and Friends.
